The Solihull Approach in Bolton

Families Together are excited to be facilitating The Solihull Approach Parenting Group ‘Understanding your child’s behaviour’ in Bolton!

We know being a parent can be challenging at times- all our facilitators are parents themselves! Our groups are not about focusing on what’s going wrong, judging parents or telling you what you should do- but rather focusing on your strengths, on linking how understanding our own and our child’s emotions and feelings impact on our behaviour and building positive strategies to support you as a parent!

‘Understanding your child’s behaviour’ encourages parents to identify the most important issues in their relationship with their child and reflect on why things sometimes go well and sometimes do not, it’s then easier to identify how to work together with their child.

The groups are intended for parents with children aged 0-2 years who want to know more about sensitive and effective parenting. It aims to develop a framework of thinking about parent/child relationships which can be developed into a lifelong skill.

They will explore issues such as:

  • Turning into your children
  • Exploring feelings
  • Parenting styles
  • Communication- what is being communicated through a behaviour
  • Temper tantrums and what might be meant by them
  • Sleep patterns
  • Behavioural difficulties

The Aims of the Solihull Approach Parenting Group:

  • To promote your understanding of your child’s behaviour within their developmental stage
  • To help you develop your relationship with your child
  • Increase both your and your child’s confidence and self esteem
  • To help you have strategies for repair when things go wrong
  • To leave you with framework of thinking about your relationship with your child that can continue and develop into a lifelong skill
  • To promote reflective, sensitive and effective parenting
